This is a video book review of the book Black Box Thinking by Daniel Syed. Living a conscious life isn’t all about yoga and crystals. It takes some critical thinking to be able to separate you from your survival thinking. The survival thinking that you are not even aware of. You are not aware that you are not aware of it. That one.
When there is an airline accident you can’t hide it. In fact Captain Sullenburger who landed on the Hudson River, credited a pilot that crashed 30 years prior to his successful landing of the plane. Pilots learn from their mistakes. Their manual is earned with blood. In the operating room it is a different story. A surgeon my be unaware that he or she is making an error. The patient dies and it will be chalked up to they weren’t that healthy anyway. Where in fact they died of a simple latex allergy. The undistinguished cognitive native dissonance will often keep the surgeon from admitting error. I could keep going but it was very eye opening to how our brains are wired to avoid failure and looking bad.
